PSC honors two-time world 9-ball champion Carlo Biado

Multiple-time world champion Carlo Biado was honored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) during a courtesy visit to the sports agency this week.

Biado, who recently reclaimed the World 9-Ball Championship title, was accompanied by Filipino billiards legends Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante, longtime billiards patron Aristeo “Putch” Puyat, and fellow champion Chezka Centeno.

To recognize Biado’s latest achievement, the PSC announced it will donate a complete premium billiard set under Biado’s name to a community of his choice.

“The PSC is donating a complete and premium billiard set under Carlo’s name to the athlete’s chosen community—a recognition of his excellence by paying forward his legacy to the billiards community and inspiring the rise of new champions,” the PSC said in a statement posted on Facebook.

The PSC also awarded Biado with a plaque of appreciation for his contributions to Philippine sports.

Biado will take a brief break in the Philippines before heading to the United States to compete in the Florida Open and US Open this August.

The 40-year-old first won the World 9-Ball Championship in 2017 and reclaimed the crown last week after edging Russia’s Fedor Gorst, 15-13, in the finals held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He also captured the World 10-Ball Championship in 2024.
