Rene Pacquiao ejected for elbowing opponent in Gensan’s win over Bacolod

Gensan Warriors forward Rene Pacquiao was ejected after elbowing Bacolod Tubo Slashers forward Miles Canal in the back of the head during their MPBL game Friday night.

The incident occurred late in the second quarter with Gensan leading 41-33, prompting Canal to confront Pacquiao before teammates separated them. Pacquiao was assessed a disqualifying foul, while Canal received a technical foul in the aftermath.

Pacquiao, cousin of MPBL founder and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, had already tallied 10 points before his ejection.

Earlier, Warriors homegrown player CJ Gonzales was called for an unsportsmanlike foul for elbowing Canal in the body after a rebound battle.

Gensan still cruised to a 104-71 victory over Bacolod.

The incidents came less than a week after Gensan forward Michole Sorela was slapped with a lifetime ban for punching Mindoro Tamaraws’ Jonas Tibayan in the face.
