Rosehill Seafood officially back open after new owner take the reins

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The iconic Rosehill Seafood restaurant is officially back open after it was announced earlier this month that it would be run under new management.

Rosehill Seafood, located on Hamilton Road, was run by Jeff Lunsford for decades, as this is the business his father started.

"Our goal is to continue on the legacy of Rosehill. That's what we want to do. That's why we were interested in this business because they've done such a great job for the past few years. That you know…. we'd be crazy to come in and want to, you know, recreate everything. So that's what we want to do," new owner Bufford King told WRBL News 3.

In May 2025, Lunsford closed the doors due to timing and a lack of consistent workers, but now that has changed after King was named the new owner and reopened the restaurant on Wednesday.

When WRBL News 3 spoke to King ahead of the reopening, he expressed his gratitude for Lunsford, who plans to continue helping the restaurant and showing him how it was ran previously.

"Mr. Lunsford has been so nice to agree to stay on for a time and help us," King said.

WRBL News 3's Bob Oswald was in attendance at the restaurant's reopening on Wednesday and reported a packed house inside.

The restaurant, located at 2621 Hamilton Road, opened up at 10:30 a.m. to the community and thanked the loyal and new customers for remaining patient for the grand reopening.
