Sheriff Countryman calling all kids to enter into name MCSO's mascot contest

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman is inviting all kids to participate in the "MCSO Name Our Mascot" contest.

Countryman says any child who is in pre-K through 6th grade can enter into the contest and name the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office's newest employee.

MCSO's bear mascot needs a name and Countryman says it's up to the kids to help. The top three selections will be picked by the Fun Committee and prizes will be available for the top three best names.

First place winners will receive $300, second place winners will get $200, while third place winners will take $100.

Countryman says the three winners will also be recognized by Columbus Councilor Glenn Davis at a city council meeting, while the mascot's new name will be announced.

While the contest is only for pre-K through 6th grade, parents and guardians can submit their child's name selection for them by Facebook messaging Countryman or email at muscosheriff@columbusga.org.

Countryman also says to be sure to include your child's name, age, a good contact phone number, and email address.

The deadline to enter the contest is Sept. 1.
