5 taken into custody in connection to homicide that happened near Bay Avenue

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department says five people were taken into custody in connection with a shooting that left a woman dead near Bay Avenue.

CPD says with the help of the Violent Crimes Unit, Fugitive Unit, Real Time Crime Center, and the Phenix City Police Department, 15-year-old Noah Toney, 15-year-old Ty'Ron Cherry, 16-year-old Lafabien Anderson, 18-year-old Lamarcus Williams, and 21-year-old Kacin Grant were taken into custody.

Anderson was taken into custody on Sept. 11, while Toney, Cherry, Grant and Williams were taken into custody on Tuesday, according to CPD.

The arrests come after the group is being accused of shooting 18-year-old Kalielah Davis to death in the 1000 block of Bay Avenue on Sept. 5.

The group is facing the following charges:

Anderson:

  • Murder
  • Aggravated assault, five counts
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime,
  • Possession of a firearm under 18 Years Old

Grant:

  • Murder
  • Aggravated assault, five counts
  • Possession of firearm during commission of crime

Cherry:

  • Murder
  • Aggravated assault, five counts
  • Possession of a firearm during commission of a crime
  • Possession of firearm under 18 Years Old

Williams:

  • Murder
  • Aggravated assault, five counts
  • Possession of a firearm during commission of a crime

Toney:

  • Possession of firearm during commission of a crime
  • Possession of firearm under 18 Years Old
