Ayaw pakampante! UST stays focused after strong start against UAAP powerhouse teams

University of Santo Tomas is off to a strong 2-0 start after defeating DLSU Green Archers and UP Fighting Maroons, but Growling Tigers assistant coach John Paul Cuan wants his players to stay grounded.

According to Cuan, he reminded the team to stay prepared and focused on their upcoming matches in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament.

“Never too high, never too low,” remarked Cuan, a member of the last UST team that hoisted an UAAP crown in 2006.

Cuan acknowledged that while the 2-0 record is encouraging, the real challenge lies in sustaining momentum throughout the campaign.

“What matters is that the boys remain disciplined, focused, and humble,” he added.

For UST, the early victories are only the beginning. The mission is not just to rack up wins, but to build a resilient squad capable of withstanding the grind of the season and delivering when it matters most. (XEJC)
