Chery Tiggo is reloading for another title chase in the Premier Volleyball League after officially securing the services of Cuban outside hitter Yunieska Batista for the 2025 Reinforced Conference set for next month.
The Crossovers announced the move through their official Facebook page.
The 32-year-old veteran, who last played for Yesilyurt Sports Club in Turkey, brings a wealth of international experience and offensive firepower to the Crossovers’ arsenal. Known for her explosiveness on the wings, Batista is expected to provide the scoring punch and steady leadership the team has been looking for in its import slot.
Her arrival comes after a roller-coaster 2024 campaign for Chery Tiggo. Despite reinforcing with Canadian star Kathryn Bell, the squad managed only a fifth-place finish in last season’s Reinforced Conference.
This year, however, the Crossovers showed steady progress. They bagged a silver medal in the PVL On Tour—pushing PLDT to a five-set thriller in the finals—and placed fourth in the Invitational Conference after bowing to powerhouse Creamline.
With Batista now in the fold, Chery Tiggo looks determined to break through its recent near-misses. She will join a versatile cast of wingers led by Ara Galang, Cess Robles, Shaya Adorador, Baby Jyne Soreño, and rising star Renee Peñafiel—a mix of veterans and young talent expected to complement the Cuban spiker’s firepower.
