Holding onto summer – A warm & humid Thursday ahead

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Good Thursday morning! We're starting the day off mostly clear, seasonable, and just a bit more humid across the region.

Much like yesterday, temps will climb quickly — we're looking at mid to upper 80s by midday, with highs pushing into the low 90s. Some spots could even flirt with the mid 90s. With that extra humidity in the air and a weak disturbance sliding through the upper atmosphere, a few stray showers or thunderstorms are possible again today. That said, it's not the kind of setup that'll put a dent in any dry spells — definitely not a drought-buster.

Tonight looks mostly clear again, with temps dipping into the upper 60s and low 70s — right on track for this time of year as we wind down the final days of summer.

Heading into the weekend, the warm and slightly humid pattern holds. A rogue shower or storm can't be ruled out, but most of us will stay dry, with highs hovering near 90.

Fall officially begins Monday afternoon, September 22nd, but it'll still feel like late summer, especially as the humidity starts to creep back in across the southeast.

Looking ahead, our next real shot at rain (and possibly some thunderstorms) comes next week, thanks to another upper-level disturbance swinging through.
