Hot day ahead with showers and storms looming as a front arrives Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Good Wednesday morning! We're waking up to more cloud cover and warmer temps across the region today.

It's going to be another hot and humid one, with highs climbing into the mid 90s. Thanks to the humidity, it'll feel even warmer than that, especially as clouds continue to build throughout the afternoon and evening.

Tonight brings partly cloudy skies and overnight lows in the low 70s. But changes are on the way...

A cold front moves into the southeast on Thursday, bringing scattered showers and a chance for thunderstorms. Some of these storms could pack a punch, with wind gusts reaching 40–60 mph in the stronger cells. Rain and storms may linger into Friday afternoon and evening.

Looking ahead to the weekend, a few spotty showers are possible Saturday, but overall, things cool down. Expect noticeably more comfortable weather, with morning lows in the mid 60s and daytime highs in the mid 80s.
