Gilas Pilipinas forward Carl Tamayo drew attention on Thursday night after he shared on Facebook a memorial card claiming that former House of Representatives Speaker Martin Romualdez had passed away.
The post from ‘PRRD — The Greatest’ Facebook page, featured Romualdez’s photo with the caption “In Loving Memory” and the dates Nov. 14, 1963 – Sept. 25, 2025, was posted on Tamayo’s Facebook account.
Romualdez, who resigned as House Speaker last week, has been under scrutiny in the Senate’s ongoing probe into alleged kickbacks from flood control projects.
During a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Thursday, Orly Guteza, a security aide of Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, claimed he personally delivered suitcases filled with cash to Romualdez’s various residences.
Romualdez, in a statement on Thursday evening, has denied the allegations of Guteza, who emerged as the secret witness of Senator Rodante Marcoleta. (AC)
