TODAY:
For Sunday, expect partly cloudy skies with a stray shower possible, mainly for our Alabama counties. ighs today will be in the low 90s.
THIS WEEK:
Monday and Tuesday will feature lots of sunshines and dry conditions with afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s. Wednesday, highs will reach the mid 90s, but clouds will be on the increase late as a front draws closer. A late shower can't be ruled out. Thursday and Friday will feature our best chances for rain we've seen in quite a while, as that front along with an area of low pressure to our north draws closer to our area and helps kick off afternoon showers and maybe a few storms. Friday, that front lingers and continues to bring scattered afternoon showers and a few storms. Highs on Friday will finally be closer to average with mid 80s. By Saturday, that front stalls to our south, so even though the chance of rain diminishes, we'll still have a chance for an isolated shower or two with afternoon highs only in the mid 80s.
TROPICS:
Tropical Storm Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane later today, but good news is, she will stay out in the open Atlantic and away from the U.S. A tropical wave moving into the central Atlantic has been given a 40% chance of development over the next 7 days by the NHC. In the short term, conditions aren't favorable, but toward the later half of the week, conditions should become more favorable for development.
