Warm afternoon with a taste of fall on the horizon

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Good Thursday morning! We're starting the day with seasonable temperatures and a few high clouds drifting through—another calm and pleasant beginning.

Expect sunshine to dominate the morning skies, filtered at times by some high-level clouds. As we head into the afternoon and evening, cloud cover will increase—similar to what we saw yesterday. Temperatures will briefly climb into the low 90s, and while most of us stay dry, there's a slim chance for a rogue or stray shower.

An upper-level trough continues to spin subtle disturbances across the southeast, but these will mostly fizzle out, only producing very stray rain chances through the end of the week. Friday looks to be the hottest day, with highs in the mid to low 90s. Thankfully, humidity will remain in check—for now.

Heading into the weekend, Saturday stays warm with highs in the low 90s. A cold front approaches, bringing a few more opportunities for showers. By Sunday, you'll feel a shift: drier, less humid air moves in, and temperatures dip into the upper 80s.

Looking ahead to next week, high pressure behind the cold front will bring cooler, crisper mornings and more comfortable afternoons—offering a subtle reminder that autumn isn't far away.
