After lifting Meralco Bolts past the quarterfinals hurdle, Chris Newsome is bracing for a grind against sister team Talk ’N Text Tropang 5G in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup semifinals.
In an exclusive interview with Abante Sports Now, Newsome acknowledged the caliber of TNT and its ability to make in-series adjustments, but said Meralco’s chemistry and resilience give the Bolts confidence heading into the matchup.
“Talk ’N Text is a great team. They’re good at adjustments,” Newsome said. “This is the type of series that can go to seven games. So I’ll say Meralco in seven.”
For Newsome, the quarterfinal escape reinforced what he believes will matter most in the semifinals: togetherness and trust.
“A lot of people underestimate our chemistry,” he said earlier. “That bond is what brings everything together.”
As the Bolts prepare to face TNT, Newsome knows the margin for error will be slim. Still, he remains firm in his prediction: the series will be long, physical, and decided only in the final game. (JNV)
