Former NBA players Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley traded basketball for mixed martial arts with the former scoring a quick submission victory during their exhibition bout at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Stephenson finished the fight just 1:05 into the opening round after forcing Beasley to tap out to a rear-naked choke.
The two briefly exchanged punches early before Stephenson managed to bring the fight to the ground. Beasley initially attempted a guillotine choke, but Stephenson escaped and quickly took control before securing the fight-ending submission.
Despite not fully locking his legs around Beasley, Stephenson maintained enough pressure to end the contest in rapid fashion.
Beasley immediately expressed interest in a rematch under boxing rules, while Stephenson said he would be open to another showdown in whatever format Beasley preferred.
The matchup added another chapter to the longtime competitive relationship between the two former NBA players, who were teammates on Miami 305 during the club’s championship run in the 2025 BIG3 season. (AC)
