However, let us highlight the Facebook post of former military rebel Abe Purugganan who offered President Duterte an advice on how best to move after the Marawi crisis is over.

taking up Master of National Security Administration, the ASG and Maute should be stopped and
in order to do so, it requires an extraordinary solution or extreme measures
Although his idea is copied from the Western model, there is no reason why this won’t work in Philippine setting.
Purugganan enjoined social media to share his post, hoping the President would read this.

The Abu Sayaf and Maute group have been pestering us for a long time. They have to be stopped. And to do this, it requires an extraordinary solution or extreme measures, and I am recommending to the President as a citizen of this country to organized a covert Special Operations Group that will be dedicated in neutralizing these two groups.
The group should be organized into the following:
1- A command and control group composed of the best strategists and tacticians. They should be equipped with at least good if not the best command, control, communications, computers and intelligence system (C4I).
2- An intelligence team composed of selected top-notch and veteran intelligence and counter intelligence officers and men (police, military & NBI).
3- It should have strike teams composed of selected warriors from the best members of the Scout Rangers, Special Forces (Airborne), SAF and NAVSOG.
4 - A legal and law enforcement team composed of the best policemen, investigators and lawyers.
5- A support group who will provide all operational and logistical requirements.
The group should be well funded, supported and equipped. They should be authorized to command government resources both from military and civilian agencies and units to accomplish their mission.
Their operations would be covert. It would be independent of AFP operations but they will be under the direction of DND.
Their mission:
Eliminate the ASG & MG including their political connections.
