Cebu Pacific said it will provide air support and additional baggage allowance to wounded state forces in Marawi City.

In a statement Friday, the airline said wounded troops who are “fit enough” for commercial flights may board in Laguindingan Airport, Cagayan de Oro to any domestic destination. They will also be given a baggage allowance of 40 kilograms.

Earlier, AirAsia also announced it was providing baggage allowance of up to 40 kilos and free inflight meal to soldiers who could present mission order and proper identification.

The Cebu Pacific aid will expedite treatment of wounded government troops, officials said.

“This will not just afford our troops immediate treatment in hospitals that offer better facilities to aid their speedy recovery, but a meaningful gesture to make your Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, and Marines feel that their sacrifices are being recognized and appreciated,” Military Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Edgard Arevalo said in a statement.

“This is not the first time that Cebu Pacific extended a helping hand to our troops. We cannot thank them enough for keeping the Filipino spirit of ‘Bayanihan’ alive in such crucial time of emergency,” PNP Public Information Office Chief Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlis said.

Cebu Pacific will also provide cargo transport support for relief goods headed to Marawi City and nearby areas.

“These include food and water; medicines; bandages; clothing and other necessities. The airline has provided equipment support to the Office of Civil Defense in the transport of humanitarian assistance,” it said.

Cebu Pacific is also known as a low cost courier which offers promo seat sales, discounts and rewards to  frequent flyers. Another milestone to the airline for a job well done!
