Davao City Mayor Inday Duterte slammed NPA for attacking PSG convoy

Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara 'Inday' Duterte slammed the New People's Army via social media in relation to the latter's attacks on the Presidential Security Group convoy coming from Davao City to Bukidnon. The shootings occured at the highway stretch of Arakan, North Cotabato.

She said on her most recent post in Instagram, "The PSG is for the security of Digong and Leni only, so ambot sa kibot sa NPA ngano gusto ninyo sila kuhaon, they don't care about you except if you threaten Digs and Lens."

[Translation: "... hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit kailangang puntiryahin ng mga NPA ang PSG, samantalang tanging ang Presidente at Bise-Presidente lang naman ang binabantayan ng ng mga ito."

"Mga NPA do not know their purpose in this country, they cannot decide if they want to be criminals, terrorists or popular village idiots," she added. "Makatawa ko and at the same time maluoy sa inyong ka-mabaw. And yes, giliba mos PSG ganina, maabri ra to ilaha car door, di lang sila gusto mangabri para sa inyo."

[Translation: Natatawa ako and at the same time naaawa ako sa ka babaw.and yes, niloloko kayo ng PSG kanina, nabubuksan lang naman ang door ng sasakyan nila, ayaw lang talaga nilang buksan para sa inyo.]

In an earlier statement, Davao City Mayor Inday Duterte's sibling and the Vice Mayor of the same city condemned the attacks of the alleged NPA on the PSG in North Cotabato.

According to him, the NPA clearly shows how insincere they are with the peace talks between the government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. They will use every opportunity they see in spreading animosity, violence and abuses to the poor members of the society.

Pulong concluded they are no longer under the control of the NDF and that the NPA are the real traitors of the Philippines.

"Ang nangyari ay nagpakita lamang na isang oportunistang grupo and NPA na ang layunin ay walang humpay na gulo, kamatayan, at paghihirap lalo na sa mga mahihirap na mga Pilipino na, sa matagal na panahon, ay ginamit nilang rason upang labanan ang gobyerno," he wrote on his Facebook page.

"Bakit kaya sinasabotahe ng NPA ang mismong peace talks na gustong mangyari ng NDF. Bakit?" he added.

The Presidential Security convoy was ambushed in the highway stretch of Barangay Gambudes, Arakan, North Cotabato. The shooters were suspected members of the militant group NPA disguised in military uniforms.

The NPA set up a checkpoint which is originally meant for robbing vehicle owners and passengers who will pass by the checkpoint. However, the PSG convoy consisting of two vehicles did not stop by the said checkpoint eventhough the rebels were firing gunshots at them.

Fifty armed men were reported seen in the incident.

Benjamin Pandia, member of the Citizen Army Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was shot dead while four were wounded.
