Occidental Mindoro representative and Liberal Party treasurer Josephine “Nene” Ramirez-Sato is said to be one of the congresspersons who rejected the appointment of Judy Taguiwalo as DSWD secretary on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
Ramirez-Sato, 62-year-old, known for asking toughest questions at the Cabinet appointees of President Rodrigo Duterte during their appointment hearings before the CA.
She was also seen grilling Gina Lopez on the latter’s technical capabilities of the law after she cancelled 75 mineral production sharing agreements in watersheds all over the country. In the end, she also voted ‘No’ on Lopez’ appointment on May 3 this year.
Political analyst Antonio P. Contreras, posted an infographic urging Filipinos not to vote Sato in the 2019 elections should she run for any position.
Way back 2013, the Sandiganbayan 4th Division has issued a hold departure order against Ramirez-Sato. She was still a governor of Occidental Mindoro during that time. [ABS-CBN News]
The hold departure order due to an allegation of failure to make delivery of public property and was signed by was signed by Justices Gregory Ong, Jose Hernandez and Maria Cristina Cornejo.
Ramirez-Sato was accused of failing to turn over to the provincial government a mobile clinic and medical equipment donated by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and another foundation worth P3.4 million.
However in 2015, the Sandiganbayan has junked the graft case over the delay on the part of the Office of the Ombudsman to complete its investigation. [PhiStar]
“The period of almost 11 years for the ombudsman to resolve the case against the accused constitutes inordinate delay in resolving the case, in violation of the accused’s constitutional right to speedy disposition of her case,” the Sandiganbayan said in a decision promulgated last Jan. 23.
“Such violation gives cause for the dismissal of the case against her,” it added.
Another alleged scandal of Rep. Nene Sato is her ‘discovered mansion’ in Antipolo City Rizal. The said was featured in ‘XXX’, a previous documentary show of ABS-CBN.
