Muslims netizens defends Pres. Duterte for wearing boots inside the grand mosque

It was last Monday, Sept 11 when President Duterte visited Marawi for the 4th time.

And this time not to visit injured soldiers, but to check the Grand Mosque, which had been used as a battleground.

With Duterte and company visits, the media noticed that they did not remove their shoes when they entered the Mosque. In which they immediately receive negative feedback from the netizens, saying they did not respect the place.

However, Muslims defended Duterte that the only time you need to remove your shoes is when you visited the mosque to pray.

On the other hand Duterte also defended that they did not intend to insult the Muslims when they visited the mosque.

He also added that wearing footwear is necessary to protect them.

Gusto mo mag-tinikling ka doon?” the President said.

“I respect Islam, it was not meant to disrespect or dishonor.

"Sabi niya, 'Pumasok ka, kasi ‘yung bala,'" He added.
