#JustShutUp This is the reaction of Davao City resident and pro-Duterte netizen named Monching Lumantas following news report that Senator Franklin Drilon said that President Duterte cannot declare a public health emergency unless covid-2019 threatens national security. [Link here]
An obviously exasperated Lumantas took to social media to clarify what was Senator Drilon talking about? “What national security are you talking about? This is not a military problem. It is a serious global outbreak of disease.”
Lumantas informed Drilon that it was DOH who made the recommendation to the President. “For your information, it was the Department of Health(DOH) that recommended to the President the declaration of public health emergency after it raised its alert to Code Red Sub-Level 1 following the confirmation that the fifth COVID-19 patient did not travel abroad and was indeed a case of local transmission. In medical parlance, one case is too many. Even the World Health Organization(WHO) has declared a public health emergency of international concern amid the growing cases worldwide.”
Lumantas reminded the Senator there is no mention of your b***sh*t threat to national security in RA 11332, that law he cited to justify his statement! BTW,. according to Lumantas was author such law.“Let me refresh your memory Frank…Republic Act No.11332 which you yourself crafted into law, defines a public health emergency as the “occurrence of an imminent threat of an illness or health condition that poses a high probability of a large number of deaths…international exposure to an infectious or toxic agent.” There is no mention of your b***sh*t threat to national security!”
Lumantas said he sees no problem President Duterte declaring a public health emergency because of the numerous advantages it gives to the government, particularly the LGUs to fight the virus. “The President is trying to safeguard the well-being of his people. How? Such declaration facilitates immediate access to funding to respond to the issue, particularly for the LGUs. It eases processes on procurement, mandatory reporting, quarantine and travel restrictions, among others. I don’t see any problem with that.”
Lumantas concluded his rant against Drilon by telling him to just shut up because he is not the President’s alter ego nor a medical expert. “You know what? The real problem is for people like you who stand in the way of the President. You are sowing panic and anxiety among our citizenry by issuing statements like that. You and the bleeding hearts are the real threat to our national security. If I were you, never teach the President on what to do ‘coz you ain’t his alter ego nor a medical expert. Don’t question his wisdom and resolve in fighting this dreaded disease. In other words, Frank…”
