TNT coach denies interest in Maverick Ahanmisi

TNT Tropang Giga head coach Jojo Lastimosa has denied that they are interested in signing free agent guard Maverick Ahanmisi.

Rey Joble of The Daily Tribune interviewed Lastimosa, who stated that Ahanmisi’s camp might be merely “making a noise” since no serious takers have shown interest in Ahanmisi.

“No, we’re not interested,” Lastimosa said. “Probably there’s no serious takers yet on him; that’s why they are making noise again.”

In a report by Homer Sayson of Spin.ph, quoting Ahanmisi’s manager Danny Espiritu, it was said that there is a tug-of-war between TNT and San Miguel Corporation Group for the services of the free agent guard.

Ahanmisi, who averaged 19.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals in the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup with the Converge FiberXers, made headlines for reportedly asking for a monthly salary way beyond the PBA’s salary cap.

It was reportedly the reason why the FiberXers opted to drop the contract extension talks with Ahanmisi, as well as the other PBA teams backing out of signing him.

Espiritu said that Ahanmisi is due to return to the country this September and will listen if there are offers for him in the PBA.
