Angola’s Bruno Fernando admitted having to fight it out against his counterparts in Gilas Pilipinas before they were able to win.
Fernando mentioned June Mar Fajardo and AJ Edu as his main contenders for the ball on Sunday night before Angola was able to secure an 80-70 victory.
The Atlanta Hawks center got 14 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field.
“I keep saying (Edu) made it tough for me,” said the 6-foot-10 Angolan.
“Great fight; a lot of credit to him and the other guy (Fajardo), great players.” “The coach knows how to utilize them, but we just try to come out and be aggressive and come up with the win.”
It was Angola’s first win in the tournament, while Gilas dropped to its second straight loss.
