Jordan Clarkson believes Gilas Pilipinas has a good chance of winning games in the 2023 FIBA World Cup later this month.
After arriving in the country from Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, the Utah Jazz guard made the prediction.
The Filipino-American guard’s concise response to the awaiting media, who had gathered for his arrival, was, “Think we’ve got a good chance.”
Securing victories in the FIBA World Cup holds significant importance, as the top-performing Asian team following the tournament stands to secure a direct qualification to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the tournament’s group stage, the national men’s basketball team will face challenges from the Dominican Republic, Italy, and Angola.
This marks Clarkson’s third appearance with Gilas Pilipinas, following his participation with Rain or Shine-Philippines in the 2019 Asian Games and his involvement with Gilas in the fifth window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
