Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al S. Panlilio confirmed on Tuesday that Kai Sotto has been cleared to join full contact practice sessions of the Gilas Pilipinas.
“I spoke with our doctors (Monday) and he’s been cleared to play. And that’s good news,” Panlilio said in a special session of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA).
The SBP earlier said that they would not allow Sotto to join the national team’s practice unless he presented his medical clearance.
Sotto has not played a game since the NBA Summer League last July, as he rested his back injury.
Now, Gilas head coach Chot Reyes has more choices in the center spot for his final 12. He has Sotto, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, and AJ Edu. (MJD)
