Online viewers of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) have requested a review of the final score from last Thursday’s game between the Muntinlupa Cagers and Makati OK Bet Kings.
As per online comments, the final score should read 69-66 in favor of Muntinlupa instead of the 67-66 currently displayed on the MPBL website. This discrepancy arose because the referees chose not to include the final shot attempted by a Cagers player.
According to the screenshots that gained traction online on Saturday, a Cagers player made a layup with 0.02 seconds remaining on the clock. Regrettably, this shot was not counted.
The contentious incident led netizens to deduce that the deliberate exclusion of Muntinlupa’s final basket was possibly motivated by betting odds:
