Team USA manhandles Luka-less Slovenia in friendly game

The United States men’s basketball team showed no mercy to Luka Doncič-less Slovenia with a 92-62 beating in a friendly game on Saturday night (Sunday, Manila time) in Malaga, Spain.

Anthony Edwards produced 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals, while Jalen Brunson scored 11 and grabbed eight assists for the Americans.

Austin Reaves and Tyrese Haliburton also scored 10 points apiece for Team USA, which is gearing up for their 2023 FIBA World Cup campaign at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City later this month.

Team USA never trailed in the game against Slovenia, as they led 27-20 after the first 10 minutes before marching ahead at 47-31 at the halftime break.

The Steve Kerr-led Americans delivered the decisive blow in the fourth quarter as they outscored Slovenia 25-13 and recorded their second win in as many friendly games.

Doncič was prevented from playing against the United States after suffering a minor injury during their loss to reigning FIBA World Cup champions Spain last Friday (Saturday, Manila time).
