Belgian authorities deport former Golden State player Patrick McCaw

Authorities in Belgium ordered the deportation of former NBA player Patrick McCaw due to irregularities with his passport.

According to reports, authorities flagged McCaw’s passport as lost or stolen. He was detained for four days and deported to the United States.

McCaw went to Belgium to play with Filou Oostende.

Johan Vande Lanotte, former Minister of Economy and Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium, visited McCaw at the detention center but failed to have him released.

McCaw won three NBA titles, two of them with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018. After his stint with Golden State, he signed with the Toronto Raptors, where he won his third title in 2019.

In 2022, he played for the Delaware Blue Coats in the NBA G League, and he helped the team win the league championship. (MJD)
