Gilas Pilipinas Youth held to 36 points in semifinal defeat to Australia

Gilas Pilipinas Youth faced a tough challenge against Australia, suffering a 92-36 loss in the FIBA U16 Asian Championship.

The Philippine team struggled throughout the game, trailing 7-22 after the first quarter and scoring just three points in the second quarter, resulting in a 45-10 halftime deficit.

In the third quarter, Gilas Pilipinas Youth continued to face difficulties, scoring only 10 points before having their best-scoring quarter in the final frame with 16 points.

Irus Chua and CJ Amos contributed six points each to lead the FIBA U-17 World Cup-bound Gilas Youth. They will compete for the bronze against China on Sunday night at 11 p.m. (Manila time).

Kieffer Alas, the leading scorer for Gilas Pilipinas Youth in the tournament, faced a tough game and only managed to score two points. Joaquin Ludovice contributed just four points, and Kurt Nathan Velasquez was held scoreless.

On the other side, Dash Daniels led Australia with 12 points, while Sa Pilimai added 11.

Australia will face New Zealand in the championship round.
