Indiana exploring Buddy Hield trade as contract negotiations stall

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly seeking to trade shooting guard Buddy Hield after both sides were unable to agree on the terms of a possible contract extension.

“After contract extension negotiations stalled out, Buddy Hield and the Indiana Pacers have started dialogue to work on finding a potential trade, league sources say,” NBA insider Shams Charania posted on X.

Charania added that the Pacers offered Hield an extension over the past few weeks, but it did not please the 30-year-old guard.

Hield is in the last year of his four-year contract, which costs $18 million for the 2023–2024 season. The Pacers acquired him along with Tyrese Haliburton in the middle of the 2021–2022 season from the Sacramento Kings.

Just last week, the Pacers announced that Hield would wear jersey number 7 for the upcoming season, which drew a negative reaction from former player Jermaine O’Neal. (MJD)
