Report: Justine Baltazar opts to skip PBA rookie draft again, continues with MPBL

Basketball Zone reports that Pampanga Giant Lanterns center Justine Baltazar will once again choose to skip participation in the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft later this month.

This marks the second consecutive year that the former De La Salle University Green Archers big man has chosen not to enter the PBA draft.

Last year, Baltazar initially submitted his papers but later withdrew them a few days later after securing a contract to play for the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the Japan B.League.

The Dragonflies, however, eventually released Baltazar, which prompted him to transition to the Korean Basketball League. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding resulted in his suspension from the league for a couple of years.

Currently, Baltazar is competing for the Giant Lanterns in the 2023 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League under the leadership of head coach Gov. Dennis Pineda.

In contrast to Baltazar, his Pampanga teammates Louie Sangalang, JB Bahio, Archie Concepcion, and John Lloyd Clemente are all submitting applications for the 2023 PBA Draft.
