Creamline Cool Smashers head coach Sherwin Meneses praised his bench players for their crucial contributions in their 24-26, 25-20, 25-21, and 25-16 victory over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in Game 1 of the PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference finals on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Meneses revealed that before the game, he had instructed his off-the-bench players to stay prepared, as he anticipated needing their contributions against the championship-hungry Flying Titans.
Teamwork talaga on our part; hindi lang isa, dalawa o tatlo, talagang teamwork.”
Bea de Leon led the way among the Cool Smashers’ off-the-bench players with 11 points, while Bernadeth Pons and Michele Gumabao contributed eight and seven points, respectively.
The trio’s offensive contributions provided valuable support to the Cool Smashers’ dynamic duo, Jessica Galanza and Diana Carlos, who led the squad with 20 and 17 points, respectively, showcasing the team’s depth and versatility on the court.
Despite being one win away from their 8th PVL crown, Meneses has cautioned his team against complacency, emphasizing the need to address their slow starts in the three sets they won in Game 1.
