Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers reinforcement Marina Tushova commented that the passing and setting of Filipina volleyball players are “not that high quality.”
The Russian import made this observation after two games with the Solar Spikers in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
“Sorry if it’s gonna be rude, so it’s not that high quality, like sets, passing,” said Tushova when asked regarding her assessment of Philippine volleyball.
“But Filipinos always want the best of everything, and you enjoy the game and you have a big desire,” she added.
Tushova also said that she loves the unpredictability of the matches in the PVL, especially when they scored a straight-set win over defending champions the Petro Gazz Angels last Tuesday.
“There’s good defense, and you’ll never know how a team will play against you like today. No one thought that we’re gonna play like this, but we were starving for our win, and we did it,” Tushova said.
Tushova’s comments were well received by the volleyball fans, who said that they should serve as an eye-opener for the Philippine National Volleyball Federation to do something to improve the level of volleyball here in the country.
