MPVA: Negros Oriental rebounds, sweeps Marikina

The Negros Oriental-ICC Blue Hawks are back on their winning ways in the 2024 MPVA season after a 25-23, 25-23, and 25-19 sweep over the Marikina Lady Shoemasters on Tuesday afternoon at the STRIKE Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.

Andrea Caparal continued her consistent performance for the Blue Hawks as she tallied 13 points on 11 attacks, one block, and a service ace as they improved to a 3-2 win-loss slate.

Caparal, who was averaging 10.0 points per game for the Blue Hawks, said they were determined to bounce back after being swept by the Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels on Monday.

“Nanggaling kami sa talo kahapon (against Biñan), kaya talagang pinaghandaan namin itong laro na ito, kasi hindi kami puwedeng matalo ng dalawang sunod,” Caparal said on her Player of the Game interview.

The Lady Shoemasters, on the other hand, suffered their second defeat in as many matches.

The Quezon Tangerines, on the other hand, notched their third win in as many matches after a 28-30, 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 15-9 victory against the Volley Angels, which dropped to a 2-2 mark.

Rhea Mae Densing spearheaded the offense for the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers-reinforced Tangerines with 31 points on 27 attacks and four service aces to be named Player of the Game.
