Michele Gumabao: Creamline to rely on ‘big fighting heart’ in PVL finals

The Creamline Cool Smashers will once again lean on their “big fighting heart” as they take on the Akari Power Chargers in the PVL Reinforced Conference finals tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Veteran Michele Gumabao highlighted that their “big fighting heart” was crucial in their comeback from a two-set deficit against the Cignal HD Spikers in the knockout semifinals on Saturday night.

“Our semifinals game against Cignal really tested our hearts,” Gumabao said. “And coming into the championship, kailangan nandun talaga ang puso ng champion, our big fighting heart.”

“We’re thankful that we were able to experience this (in the semifinals); it will only make us really one team,” she added. “Like what our team management said, ‘The toughest battles are given to the toughest warriors.’”

Gumabao admitted that it was a tough campaign for the Cool Smashers as they missed the services of Alyssa Valdez, Diana Carlos, and Jessica Galanza, but they managed to overcome the challenges.

“At least, buo ang loob namin pagpasok ng finals, but we need to work harder and play as one team, follow the system, and never lose faith,” the former De La Salle University Lady Spikers star said.

The Cool Smashers will be gunning for the ninth PVL championship as they enter their 12th PVL finals appearance.
