DLSU coach Topex Robinson denies spitting at UP’s Reyland Torres

De La Salle University Green Archers head coach Michael “Topex” Robinson denied spitting on University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons guard Reyland Torres during their heated UAAP Season 87 encounter on Sunday night.

In a media interview, Robinson acknowledged having a verbal altercation with Torres after the latter directed profanities at the Green Archers bench, but he denied spitting on the UP player’s shoulder.

“Yes, me and Torres exchanged a few words, but I did not spit at him,” Robinson said.

Torres later told the media that he was certain Robinson spit on him as he passed by the Green Archers’ bench.

The incident reportedly triggered the verbal altercation between the coaching staffs of the Green Archers and Fighting Maroons, led by Gian Nazario and Tom Chua, respectively.

The verbal clash between the DLSU and UP coaching staff was stopped after the referees intervened.

In the end, the Green Archers emerged victorious, defeating the Fighting Maroons 68-56, thanks to strong performances from Kevin Quiambao and Joshua David.
