Forthsky Padrigao hopes UST learns from DLSU’s brotherhood

Rence “Forthsky” Padrigao expressed his hope that the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers can emulate the strong sense of brotherhood displayed by the De La Salle University Green Archers.

Padrigao emphasized that it is this camaraderie among the Green Archers players that enables them to face challenges and secure victories in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament.

“‘Yung samahan nila sa loob ng court, I think that’s one thing na sana ma-learn din namin from La Salle,” Padrigao said in a recent post-game interview.

“Kasi ang La Salle kahit anong adversity naharap nila eh, kaya nilang i-overcome or sama-sama nilang hinaharap,” added the Growling Tigers co-captain.

Padrigao admitted that UST is already showing signs of improvement, as evident in their 94-87 overtime defeat to DLSU, where they had a chance to win in regulation.

“I love how we fought throughout this game. We were down by 20 something at the end, then came back,” said Padrigao, who missed the potential game-winning free throw in the fourth quarter.

“It’s a good thing na lumaban e. Pero, it’s not enough. Nasa second round na tayo; hindi na enough ‘yung lumaban lang kami,” he added. “We really need those wins, kasi ‘yung goal naman talaga namin is the Final Four.”

The Growling Tigers, now with a 4-5 win-loss slate, will look to bounce back against the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles at noon today at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
