Justin Brownlee believes RHJ deserves a spot in the NBA

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings reinforcement Justin Brownlee believes that TNT Tropang Giga import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson should have a career in the NBA right now.

Brownlee stated that with the way Hollis-Jefferson has been performing in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup, he deserves a roster spot on any of the 30 NBA teams.

“For me, I believe he (Hollis-Jefferson) should be playing in the NBA; he is really good,” Brownlee told the media after the Gin Kings’ 102-99 Game 6 semifinals win over the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday night.

“I think I said this the last time we played; I have been following him ever since; from amateur to high school, he has been in the spotlight, I can say decorated, always playing at a high level,” he added.

Hollis-Jefferson suited up for the Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA before he suited up as an import in several countries until he made a stop with the Tropang Giga last year.

Brownlee also said he anticipates another fun matchup with Hollis-Jefferson and the Tropang Giga, which he said presents a different challenge compared to their semifinal opponent, the Beermen.

“Playing against a guy like that (which) has a very decorated amateur and professional career; playing in the NBA, he has an incredible international career as well, so it’s gonna be a fun matchup, good for the fans,” Brownlee said.

“As for TNT, they have been tough; man, things will be a lot different; TNT has a different offense compared to SMB; still, it is not going to be easy. Of course we want revenge from the finals last year, but we will take it one step at a time,” he added.

The Gin Kings-Tropang Giga finals series will begin on Sunday, October 27, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
