The Meralco Bolts have tapped DJ Kennedy to replace injured import Akil Mitchell in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Kennedy, a 6-foot-6 forward familiar to the Bolts through his stint with their East Asia Super League (EASL) team, will make his PBA debut on Friday against the winless Terrafirma Dyip.
Mitchell was ruled out after suffering a broken nose during Meralco’s 121-111 victory over Rain or Shine.
“DJ is a nice guy to have also,” said Meralco coach Luigi Trillo in Spin.ph.
“He’s played overseas; he knows the game, and he’s a different dimension.”
