Shigeoka collapses, stretchered off after grueling rematch vs Taduran

Former champion Ginjiro Shigeoka collapsed after his IBF minimumweight title rematch against Filipino world champion Pedro “Kid Heneral” Taduran on Saturday in Japan.

Shigeoka, who appeared physically spent following12 intense rounds with Taduran, lost via split decision and was carried out of the ring on a stretcher.

Unlike their first bout—where Taduran stopped him in nine rounds—Shigeoka adopted a more tactical approach this time. However, Taduran’s relentless pace and aggression earned him the favor of two judges.

Taduran was awarded the victory with scores of 118-110 and 115-113, while one judge saw it 115-113 for the Japanese challenger.
