Petro Gazz star Brooke Van Sickle may have missed the opportunity to personally receive her Season MVP award, but her presence was strongly felt during the Premier Volleyball League’s first-ever Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night on Wednesday at Novotel Manila.
Currently on vacation with her family in Hawaii, Van Sickle celebrated in spirit as she was honored with the 2024–25 PVL Season MVP and 1st Best Outside Hitter awards, becoming the league’s first official Season MVP since the recognition’s inception.
“I can’t believe that I was named Season MVP and Best Outside Hitter. I have no words. I am truly grateful for everyone recognizing me, and you know I feel the love and support, so thank you to all,” said the 27-year-old Filipino-American.
“I never expected it. I just play the sport that I love with as much passion as I can possibly give at all times, and I just want to continue to have fun and be grateful for the sport. So it’s kind of like a cherry on top.”
Van Sickle, who played a pivotal role in leading the Petro Gazz Angels to their historic first All-Filipino Conference title, credited her success to the support system around her.
“I would like to thank my teammates, my Petro Gazz family, and my coaches. Thank you so much for always believing in me and trusting me…supporting me. You guys have been amazing, and you welcomed me with open arms, and I can’t be more thankful and grateful for all of you,” she said.
“Thank you so much, management, for making everything work. You’re a backbone to the team, so thank you for trusting and believing in all the players and making the team work and building our team to be how it is today—a family.”
Van Sickle also extended her admiration to her peers across the PVL and Spikers’ Turf, many of whom were honored during the glittering ceremony organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc., and the league’s year-old Press Corps.
“You guys are all phenomenal players, and it’s really awesome to be able to be surrounded by greatness and seeing how everyone’s so dedicated—the passion and everything you guys put into your work,” she added.
From her powerful performances on the court to heartfelt messages off of it, Van Sickle has clearly cemented her place among the league’s brightest stars. And though she was thousands of miles away, her legacy was celebrated in full by the PVL family on a night filled with glitz, glamour, and gratitude.
