The NLEX Road Warriors turned things around in the second half to defeat the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, 107-99, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Robert Bolick Jr. finished with 25 points, including three triples and two four-pointers, to go with nine rebounds and five assists as the Road Warriors surged to solo first place with an 8-2 win-loss slate.
Rookies Xyrus Torres and Brandon Ramirez contributed 22 and 18 markers, respectively, while Jonnel Policarpio and Javee Mocon tallied 12 and 10 points for the Road Warriors.
With the score tied at 64-all midway through the third quarter, Bolick unloaded back-to-back four-point shots followed by conversions from Ramirez and Bahio as they established an 80-70 advantage.
The Road Warriors continued their run in the fourth quarter with outside conversions from Bolick to widen the lead further to 107-91 following a three-point play by Policarpio late in the game.
“Magnolia is a great defensive team; they thrive on their defense. We turned the ball a lot during the start of the game… mabuti na lang we kept our composure and poise, and we came back,” said NLEX head coach Joseph Uichico after the win.
Zavier Lucero finished with a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, Ian Sangalang added 21 markers, while Jerom Lastimosa and Paul Lee tallied 17 and 16, respectively, as the Hotshots dropped to a 7-3 record.
