The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is set to bring its games to Bahrain for the first time as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed in a press conference on Wednesday, alongside Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) president Alaa Mudara, that elimination round matches of the Philippine Cup will be staged on December 15 and 17 in Bahrain.
“The PBA is so grateful na inimbita tayo ng Bahrain na maglaro officially,” said Marcial. “Hindi pa muna masabi ‘yung teams kasi we’ll check the schedule first, but we have already signed the contract—December 15 and 17, Bahrain.”
Mudara, for his part, expressed excitement about the collaboration, saying, “We are very happy to host these games in Bahrain.”
The Bahrain leg forms part of the PBA’s international tour for its golden anniversary, which also includes scheduled games in Dubai this coming October.
