Veteran PBA commentator and newspaper columnist Quinito Henson found himself in a heated back-and-forth with netizens following what many viewed as a controversial outcome in the WBC welterweight title clash between Manny Pacquiao and Mexican-American Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday (Manila time).
The fight ended in a majority draw, but several boxing analysts and fans alike felt that Pacquiao did enough to win.
Henson was among those who believed Pacquiao deserved the victory, expressing his sentiments on social media platform X.
“Check out the judges scorecards—all 3 had Manny ahead after 9 rounds but they gave last 3 rounds to Barrios! Sobra naman, Manny won at least 1 of the last 3 & that would’ve been enough for the victory!! Masakit ang nangyari, pinaghirapan ito ni Manny para sa bansa tapos tabla??” he wrote.

Henson’s post quickly gained traction, amassing over 26,000 views as of 2:40 p.m. Monday.
While some of his followers agreed with his sentiments, many responded by urging him to accept the judges’ decision. Instead of backing down, Henson actively engaged in the conversation, debating with fans and defending his stance.
The scoring of the bout has remained a hot topic, as Pacquiao, 46, impressed many with his conditioning and aggressiveness despite his age. The draw, however, denied him the chance to reclaim a world title in what could be his final fight.
The boxing icon went toe-to-toe with the younger, taller Barrios, who retained his title after two judges scored it 114-114, and a third gave the champion a narrow 115-113 edge.
Pacquiao, however, expressed no plans of slowing down, saying he’s ready for more fights.
“I thought I won the fight,” Pacquiao said during the post-fight interview. “It’s a good fight. The opponent’s very tough. Barrios is a wonderful fighter.”

When asked if he planned to continue boxing despite his age, the former eight-division champion responded, “I think so. God willing.”
Pacquiao also admitted that a longer training camp might have led to a different outcome.
“I only had two months of training. What I need to do is continue my training. In a championship fight like this, I need to train two months and a half,” he said.
“But we had elections in the Philippines. I started late for the training,” he added, referring to his unsuccessful senatorial bid earlier this year.
Still, Pacquiao expressed no regrets.
“But it’s OK. I love the Filipino people, and I love my country. The only legacy that I can leave behind is to give inspiration to the Filipino people.
