The Creamline Cool Smashers avoided a franchise-worst three-game skid in style, overcoming Chery Tiggo with a gutsy 25-21, 19-25, 25-16, 25-18 win to end their Pool B campaign on a high note in the PVL On Tour at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo on Sunday night.
Creamline’s bounce-back effort didn’t go unnoticed, especially by their loyal fans, who quickly took to the PVL’s Facebook page to celebrate the win.
Fan reactions flooded social media:
“The Creamline we knew!

“CONGRATS CREAMLINE!

“God bless

“Ganda ng vibes ng CCS pag nasa first six si Toring. Congrats Creamline!” – HeiDee Barong
The Cool Smashers shrugged off a tense fourth set, which saw a long delay after a controversial challenge involving Chery Tiggo rookie Renee Peñafiel.
With Creamline up 18-16, a dispute over a ball striking the post led to a point replay. The break in play only fueled Creamline’s fire as they closed the match on a 7-2 run.
Alyssa Valdez led the charge with a vintage 19-point performance, while Michele Gumabao and Pangs Panaga added 17 points apiece. Jema Galanza chipped in 13, and rookie Sheena Toring provided timely plays and six points.
The win lifted Creamline to a 3-2 record, keeping their quarterfinal hopes alive and restoring confidence after back-to-back losses to Cignal and ZUS Coffee. More importantly, they handed Chery Tiggo its first loss of the tournament, dropping the Crossovers to 3-1.
Despite the loss, Chery Tiggo remains in the hunt for a Last 8 berth and looks ahead to a crucial match against ZUS Coffee on July 29 in Ilocos Sur.
Peñafiel, Ara Galang, and Cess Robles each tallied 11 points for the Crossovers, while Pau Gaston and Aby Maraño combined for 12.
Creamline dominated key departments—outscoring Chery Tiggo in attacks (60-48), blocks (8-5), and service aces (7-1)—while limiting their errors in the latter sets. Though they gave up 26 unforced errors, their composure in crunch time made the difference.
The victory may not have sealed Creamline’s playoff fate just yet, but it showed they still have plenty of fight left.
