COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Good Thursday morning! We're starting the day off mostly clear and humid, with temperatures sitting in the low to mid 70s—right on par for this time of year.
Expect another mix of sun and clouds through the morning, with temperatures steadily climbing into the upper 80s by midday. Afternoon highs will reach the low 90s, and with the heat and humidity building, a few stray pop-up thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon hours.
Looking ahead, a cold front will move into the region by Friday, bringing a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. We're keeping an eye on the timing, with hopes that Friday night football stays mostly dry—but some rain may linger into the evening.
The front will stall nearby through Saturday, keeping the chance for showers and storms in place for the first half of the weekend. By Monday and Tuesday, model guidance suggests the front will clear out, bringing us a stretch of drier and sunnier weather before it lifts back northward midweek.
Tracking the Tropics: Hurricane Erin is starting to curve away from the U.S. East Coast. While it poses no direct threat to land, it will continue to generate high surf and dangerous rip currents along the coast—so beachgoers, stay alert and cautious.
