Phenix City Superintendent contract discussion removed form board meeting agenda

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WRBL) — The Phenix City School Board met on Thursday and decided not to address one of the items on the agenda regarding the superintendent.

Crowded room for Phenix City School Board meeting.

The item removed on the agenda was a discussion of the job performance and contract of Superintendent Dr. Janet Sherrod.

Board Member Florence Bellamy made a motion to strike the item from the agenda.
There was no public discussion. Five of the seven board members voted yes, approving the motion.

Reverend John Brady Baird voted no, and Elliot Patrick abstained. The discussion was scheduled to take place at a called meeting Tuesday. However, board attorney Bob Meadows asked the board to postpone that meeting, stating that there was new information.

School board Chair Yolaunda Daniel said that she doesn't know why the motion was made tonight to strike the discussion about the superintendent.

WRBL News 3 reached out to Dr. Sherrod and Bellamy for comment and neither wished to make a statement at this time.
