PSC lauds Philippine Deaf Team for 25-medal haul at 2nd SEA Deaf Games

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) on Thursday congratulated the Philippine National Deaf Team for their remarkable performance at the 2nd Southeast Asian Deaf Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, held from August 20 to 26.

The team secured 25 medals—seven golds, six silvers, and 12 bronzes—finishing second overall behind Malaysia (25-16-11). Other participating nations included Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Timor-Leste, and Laos.

In a Facebook post, the PSC praised the athletes for their dedication and resilience:

“Our athletes brought home an impressive 25 medals and secured second overall among six participating nations. This achievement is a big step up from the inaugural Games in 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, where the team won nine medals in Bowling and Badminton,” the PSC said.

“This remarkable run is not only a victory in numbers but also a celebration of resilience, teamwork, and national pride. Mabuhay ang ating mga atleta sa kanilang ipinakitang husay at pusong Pilipino. Salamat sa inyong sakripisyo at inspirasyon para sa bayan! 🇵🇭✨

According to the PSC, standout performers included bowling star Maria Lovella Catalan, who claimed five medals (two golds, one silver, and two bronzes), and the table tennis squad, which swept five gold medals.

In Athletics, Jae Phillipe Ciron Arce added two bronze medals in the Men’s Long Jump and 400m events.
