COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- State Sen. Jason Esteves is quick to correct you when you say he's "of Atlanta."
He represents an Atlanta district and has been on the Atlanta Public Schools board. But he will tell you his formative years were spent in Columbus.
"I am of Columbus, representing Atlanta," he says, pointing his finger at the questioner. "... Being raised on the southside, going to South Columbus Elementary, Eddy Middle School, ultimately attending Columbus High School, there were a lot of ways in which my life could have gone very differently,"
Esteves moved from Columbus to Florida before he graduated from Columbus High. Today, not only is he a state senator, he's a successful businessman with two restaurants, including The Flying Biscuit Cafe in downtown Columbus and an urgent care center in Atlanta.
He's also running for governor in the 2026 Georgia Democratic primary. He sat down with WRBL News 3's Chuck Williams last week to talk politics and business.
