Preliminary hearing held for suspects accused of Bay Avenue homicide

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Four of the five suspects accused in a deadly Bay Avenue shooting appeared in Recorder's Court for a preliminary hearing.

15-year-old Noah Toney, 15-year-old Ty'Ron Cherry, 16-year-old Lafabien Anderson, 18-year-old Lamarcus Williams, and 21-year-old Kacin Grant made their initial court appearance on Tuesday.

The group is accused of shooting 18-year-old Kalielah Davis to death in the 1000 block of Bay Avenue on Sept. 5.

Investigators believe all five defendants were at the scene during the shooting, but said it is still unclear who exactly fired the fatal shot.

Defense attorneys argued that there was not enough evidence to establish probable cause beyond the defendants' presence in the area.

The judge disagreed, finding probable cause in all four cases heard Tuesday and bound them over to Superior Court with no bond being set.
