COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Good Friday morning! We're kicking off the day — and winding down the workweek — under mostly clear skies with seasonable temps hovering just below 70°F.
Much like the rest of the week, temperatures will climb quickly. Expect it to feel pretty hot by midday, with highs in the low 90s. Some spots might even flirt with the mid 90s this afternoon.
There's another chance for a few hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms later today into the early evening. But once again, it won't be nearly enough to make a dent in the ongoing dry and drought-like conditions.
Tonight looks mostly clear and mild, with temps dipping into the upper 60s — right on track for this time of year as summer winds down.
Looking ahead to the weekend: expect mostly dry weather with just a few spotty showers here and there. Temperatures will continue running about 3–6 degrees above average, keeping things feeling more like August than mid-September.
And speaking of the calendar — fall officially arrives Monday afternoon, September 22nd. But don't expect that crisp autumn air just yet. It'll still feel like late summer, with humidity levels slowly building back into the region.
Rain chances look to improve mid to late next week, offering a better shot at some much-needed relief.
